Keith

Explore a town steeped in history when you visit Keith. The word Keith comes from the Gaelic meaning, "wind" or "pure air". So take a breath of fresh air and see for yourself why way back in the 12th century people traveled from all over Scotland to buy and sell goods in this important market town. This tradition continues even till today in the annual Keith Country Show held in August every year. The small family-owned stores in the town feature all kinds of crafts unique to the area, so you are sure to find something to take back home along with your memories. In June Keith celebrates three days of music and tradition at the Keith Music Festival. A 'must 'see' for sure.

Keith is located half way between Inverness and Aberdeen and is in the heart of the Malt Whisky Country. It is here where the Whisky Trail starts. It is great to do a tour at Craighurst’s next door neighbour; the picturesque Strathisla Distillery from Chivas Regal. Visit the Keith and Dufftown Railway and travel on ‘the Spirit of Speyside’ through spectacular Scottish scenery.

Go for a walk to the Falls of Tarnash, located in a peaceful wooded glen. And are you feeling up for some more exercise, climb the summit of Meikle Balloch, the result is a stunning view of the countryside around you. Fish for salmon and trout in the River Deveron or tee off at the Keith Golf Club. The newest attraction in the area is Falconry, just 7 miles outside of town. Here you can see falcons, owls and eagles as part of the permanent exhibits and there are breathtaking flying demonstrations.
